For Dad

Humidity can be pretty.

This is for my dad because he said, "Where are the skies, the flowers, the dog pictures?!?" And apparently, I respond well to guilting. ;-)

A New Dawn...

I've been thinking about this blog a lot. I have to admit that I automatically took a crappy picture on February 1 and then was blissful about not thinking about it at all on the 2nd and 3rd. :) But this morning I got up and took these photos, kind of on autopilot.I think what I'll do is this: I won't do the desperation late at night thing. If I haven't run across a picture in the course of my day, there won't be a picture for the day. But, if something presents itself, I'll take it and put it up. So, if you're into it, check back periodically for more photos. :)
And here are some lovely sky photos to get us started...

Cloud Series: No. 23

A thunderhead on the way home from a movie in Lawrence (The Jane Austen Book Club, which gets a couple of thumbs up from me).

Tastes Like Chicken

Today was Cattle Raids in Mag Mor. Sashatec had his laurelling ceremony, and some of his guards (Thedrich [above] and Glumpai) were dressed as Polish Hussars. (More info here.)

Other highlights of the event:
Jordan is used to the armor. She actually ran up to her dad and hugged him before he even got his helmet off. :)

It was just a glorious day all the way around.

Grounded

For Jeanne-Marie: Here's how I touch the earth. (In my favorite new-ish sandals.) :) Try to ignore the bug bites...

And for contrast, here are a couple cloud photos that were impossible to resist later in the evening. (Note the bird in the first.)

Last Commute

A big reason for the move is to get rid of my commute (a few other reasons come to mind, too, but that's the big one). Tonight was the last time I left work to drive to Lawrence. So, I documented it from beginning:

Spoiled Rotten...

I am so spoiled. :) I got the pictured package in the mail this morning. My apprentice, Jeanne Marie, sent a warp for me to put on my horizontal loom. :) (Any Crescent Moonies, note the color combo.) She is the bestest! :)

The reason I've been in Topeka is that I had guests last night. Two friends from the Outlands, Graf Hanse and Syr Zach, stopped in on their way to Pennsic in Pennsylvania. Here they are leaving this morning:And here are some amazing clouds I caught on my way to work (I was actually 15 minutes *early*):

A Different Type of Heraldic Tower...

During my 3 and a half minute commute (smug smug smug) I drive by the Topeka water tower. Look, clouds, sunrises, and heraldry...

Lex Looks...

There are mirrors in the corners of my new living room (no, I don't know why). This is Lex checking out the other cats. She's starting to get the whole mirror thing, because she kept looking behind her for the cat she saw in the mirror. She used to try to claw her way through the mirror to get at the cat. :o)

And here are the clouds on the way to the parking lot today:

Fireworks of Many Kinds

The day started out quite lovely. Me indulging my fascination with clouds. (I'm continually amazed at how well the phone takes pictures of clouds. I took 43 pictures of clouds today.)

Then I drove into this:
Some pretty hard rain followed (I slowed down to 50 mph). Then out the other side:
[Ed: Between the this pic and the one before there was reportedly a tornado touching down "near Hoyt" (which is half a mile off the road I was driving on).]

More cloud pics available here.

And, to keep with the "Jacque-a-day" theme... :-P
She was smiling some of the time, really, but I love the look on her face that's kind of a cross between awe and fear.

And, the end of the day--

Again with the Clouds...

(Apologies to the people behind me at the stoplight this morning who had to wait an extra half second while I took this...) ;-)
