Nesting

This was on my driveway this morning. No broken eggs or even feathers, just a discarded nest that fell out of the tree--with some newspaper bits in the weaving.

No Wind...

This sculpture is at the Topeka library. It's designed to move and has lights placed around it. I got it moving by blowing on it.

And here's an odd picture of the huge moon I took on the way home:

Company Peerage...

On the wall on the way to my desk from the door is a document that's been fascinating to me since my first day. Letters patent for the company that published Grit issued in 1892 by the governor of Pennsylvania. It's amazing how much of the wording is familiar... :)

Never Know...

...what you might find. This is where I keep the stuff that comes out of my pockets. (I guess you can tell that I've been to the laundromat recently. *sigh* Probably best not to ask about the huge padlock.)

A Little Bit Lonely

Sometimes life feels a lot like this... But definitely a beautiful spring day in Kansas. :o)
And here's a pink satin Jacque ghost...

Purty Weeds...

I've always loved bindweed and dandelions. As a child I just couldn't get the concept of flowers not being a positive...

Flowers to Blow...

Hmmm, another fighter practice where Jac and I were on the way to the bathroom... :) This time there is one, but she became distracted by the flowers...

Very distracted...

This one is just cute... (And see Khaentlahn, I cropped you out. :) )

Explorations

On our walk beyond the historical society (past the rope bridge) was this stick structure, held together with strips of bark (that's Khaentlahn walking ahead).

More Lunacy

It seems that Luna moths are attracted to SCA events...

This one was clinging to one of the cabins at M&M.

It was a little windy today (by Kansas standards) .

Pommes Gaufrettes..

Too busy to think about a photo today. These are "bistro chips" that I was lured into buying at World Market the other day--blue cheese flavored. Yummmm...

Looking Up--

Been moody girl for a couple of weeks. Something's bothering me that I just can't shake (or put my finger on, exactly). Trying to look at the world from new perspectives--here's one. :)

Looking up through the trees while I played with Jac at CMFP.

Bathroom-less

Jac and I playing while Khaentlahn and Kato fought at Carlsby practice... We found a "house" in the park (which is where we're standing), and a fountain to get wet in, but, alas, no bathrooms... ;-)

Bitsy Baby

A little over a week ago, one of my coworkers went into premature labor and delivered a baby girl almost 3 months early. Baby Adele was only 2 pounds 5 ounces at birth. We're all thinking positive thoughts about this tiny girl who we've been watching since she looked like a peanut. By all accounts, she's doing very well. This is a photo of one of her "micro-preemie" diapers--sooo small.

Cat Cage?

My neighbors apparently put their cat out in a cage during the summer... Too weird.

Scent Trap

Walking in from my car the last few days I've been stopped in my tracks by a fragrance. I then am further delayed while I look around for the flower that caused it. (Yes, I'm a stop and smell the flowers kind of person.) But I hadn't found it. Then, yesterday at lunch my bosses were discussing how much they love the Russian olive trees that grow near the parking lot because they smell so good. So, this morning, when I stopped to smell, I looked up instead of down. I know what a Russian olive looks like, but the tree also has tiny yellow flowers that I'd missed. So, you get a photo of the Russian olive scent trap that I keep falling into.

Tired and Uninspired

Didn't remember to take my picture until I was already in bed... :)

Water, Water, Everywhere...

This is the street where Khaentlahn lives after the water had already receded a couple of feet.

These are residents surveying the damage. The guy with the bucket was collecting earthworms for fishing (his grandson was helping--"Ewwwww...").
