Tree, Requiescat In Pace

Remember my tree? The one that I was going to take pictures of throughout the year? It's been pretty much supplanted in this blog by the mimosa in my yard, but I still drive by it every day on my way to and from work. I was just thinking either this morning or yesterday morning that I should probably get some photos soon. Well, on my way to lunch I found, this:
On the way back, it was totally down and they were waiting for the clean-up crew.
So, rest in peace, Tree...

Dragonfly Cruiseship

My yard is now drowning in these hyooj leaves. (They're not even from one of my trees.)
When I picked one up, I had a flash of the dragonfly boat that Bianca and Bernard ride in The Rescuers, which is, incidentally, the first movie that I remember being *dropped off* to see. My cousin Chris and I went to it at the Cooper in Lincoln (which is now a parking lot, I'm pretty sure). I remember how grown up I felt (I would have been 7). :)

Too Long...

...since I did a self-portrait, so, here's me.
This was supposed to be the not smiling one, but it came out much more sad than I was expecting:
And this is what happens when your cat decides to "help" by coming *through* your hair.

A Brand I Can Get Behind

My family had another FFF outing today. We went to the Danish Julefest in Elk Horn and Kimballton, IA. Elk Horn is the home of a Danish Windmill and the Danish Immigrant Museum. The museum is in a gorgeous building using post and beam construction. The T-shirt above is from their gift shop.

We spent a couple hours at the museum, and did I take any photos of the place? Of the cool crane's nest over the door for luck? Of the post and beam-ness from the balcony? Nope. Just the following images from a paper cutting (papirklip) exhibit by Cynthia McKeen.

Did I Say It Wasn't Cold?

Seems the weather is trying to make up for lost time...

Size matters not...

This is Yoda (in the form of a *backpack* that I got from ThinkGeek, so it's really all Kyle's fault), waiting patiently to make the day of a little boy named Nicholas. :)

Fear

I always leave my porch light on now.

[Edit, 11/23/07: Apologies to everyone I worried with this post. I was perhaps feeling a little melodramatic. :) It was brought on by a break-in that happened at my house in October. I didn't talk about it specifically here, but two posts were fingerprints the police found and the window that was broken. Nothing new has happened, but I do always leave my porch light on now, and I am always scared of what I'll find whenever I pull into my driveway.]

Humidity, Anyone?

The weather is just crazy. Almost Thanksgiving and still no really cold days. No coat needed to get to the damp car. Today, puddles formed under the car where the condensation dripped.

Maple Red

Hello, my name is Jenn, and I LOVE fall...
Maple red should be a color in the crayon box.
I know I would buy a car that was "maple red."

Birthday Princess...

Jacque's birthday was Tues. Celebration Wed.
The temptation to touch the cake was just too much...
What's in there?
She looks so old and full of knowledge in this one. But still cute! :)

Look for Maerwynn Here...

These are my two new banners. My newest apprentice made the above with the red on yellow version of my arms (I registered both red on yellow and yellow on red, can't remember which is my arms and which is my badge atm.)
And this is the banner for RavenFlight, a group I'm affiliated with in the Outlands. :)

They are just so purty, can't wait to fly them!

She's so gorgeous.
